Are you an Internet marketer?
Whether you sell your skill as an internet marketer to other webmasters or if you market your own website, blog, product or service, time management is key. After all, your income depends on how much marketing you are able to achieve.
As time management is an important component of generating income as an internet marketer, you may be looking for helpful tips. Time management software can be purchased, but this is not only expensive, but it can also be another source of distraction. Therefore, rely on simpler tools, such as a spreadsheet.
So, why should you use a spreadsheet for time management as an internet marketer?
You probably already have a spreadsheet program on your computer or if not there are a number of free spreadsheet programs available. When properly used, this tool will produce the same results as many expensive time management software programs.
Spreadsheets are designed to help with the organisation of data. Therefore it is easy to use one for your benefit. Start with a blank spreadsheet. Enter the tasks you need to complete on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis.
You can create a spreadsheet to suit your purpose and ensure it is always organized, easy to print, or easy to read on the computer. Spreadsheets are organisational tools so do not let them create more problems. Take a few extra minutes to complete yours.
You can make a spreadsheet in any way you see fit. Daily spreadsheets are ideal for going into great detail. If finish completing your tasks but are rushing at the last minute, change your daily and hourly work habits. The best way is with a daily spreadsheet schedule. With this, set blocks of time. For example, in columns, record time blocks, such as 9 am to 10 am. In the rows underneath, enter what is to be done in that time.
If you are marketing your own website, as opposed to marketing for hire, the spreadsheet can probably have less detail. For example, if you need to write five articles for article directories, do not write the titles of each article, just put “Write five articles and submit”. Once the articles are complete, cross them from the list. If you make things general you can use the same spreadsheet each week. Just save a copy on your computer and print when the day arrives.
In addition to daily spreadsheet schedules, weekly schedules are also popular. If you can cope with managing your time but have only a few problems, a weekly schedule may work. However, if you have difficulty managing hour-to-hour during the day, a daily spreadsheet is probably best.
If you are creating a weekly internet marketing spreadsheet schedule, for example, start with the columns. Write each day in a separate column. This may require 2 printable pages. In the rows underneath, highlight the tasks to be completed. In addition to being generalised, you can go into further detail. For example, record the names of the articles you want to write or which directories you intend to submit to.
If you bother to set up a spreadsheet to use as a time management tool, it is important to use it. Therefore, have it readily available. Possibly the easiest way to do this is to print the sheet. If you have to bring it up on your computer screen from time to time it could technically be considered a distraction. If however, you have multiple screens then it will be easier to manage. However, when looking to improve your time management skills, even the smallest distractions can cost you time and money.
